Itchen College vs BHASVIC

Itchen would bounce back from last Wednesday’s road defeat in convincing fashion by beating BHASVIC 94-25 in their first home game of the season.

The home side had a slow start to the game, leading 10-6 before a timeout would spark a 16-0 run to finish the quarter, behind some inspired play for Peter Turay & Matt Hughes. The visitors would do their best to respond in the second quarter but they would struggle to deal with Itchen’s defensive pressure, leading to a number of transition baskets. Rhys Sundimalt would light a final spark before the half which would see Itchen go into the break leading 49-11.

The second half would continue in similar form as both teams rotated their benches and Itchen would finish the contest as 94-25 winners.

Itchen Head Coach Matt Guymon reflected, “I thought we got great contributions from all players today and I’m pleased that we were able to get our first win of the season. At this stage it is about us improving every time we step on the floor and I felt that we maintained a high level of effort and focus throughout the game.”
