Itchen College vs BHASVIC

BHASVIC came away with a 71-63 victory over Itchen College on Wednesday afternoon, improving their record to 3-3 as they moved to third place in the conference.

Itchen College came into Wednesday’s South Coast derby seeking revenge, having lost to BHASVIC by 2 points a week earlier in the BCS Regional Final but it wasn’t meant to be after a fourth quarter comeback led by Elliot Dadds, fell short.

BHASVIC’s Rueben Scriven hit a huge three pointer late in the shot clock which proved to be the dagger for Itchen making it a 5 point game with 30 seconds to play.

“We came into this game very fatigued having already played 2 games in the week,” said Itchen’s Elliot James, who top scored with 21. “We unfortunately got ourselves into a hole early and unfortunately didn’t have enough to dig ourselves out of it today.”

The first quarter started at quite a slow pace with both teams exchanging points with the 1st quarter finishing 16-15 to Itchen.

In the second quarter things began to fall apart for Itchen had a number of careless turnovers that BHASVIC were able to turn into points at the other end. Lucien Cristofis and Max Richardson made for an excellent inside outside combination during this stretch causing the Itchen defence a lot of problems with BHASVIC winning the quarter 26-16.

The second half started with both teams exchanging baskets with Elliot James, Elliot Dadds and Dan Kingswell looking more assertive on the offensive end which allowed Itchen to chip away at the BHASVIC lead.

Itchen were 8 points down to start the 4th quarter with Elliot Dadds proving dominant late in the game to get the game to 64-62 with under a minute to play, but the aforementioned three pointer from BHASVIC’s Scriven, sealed the game which was closed out at the free throw line.

Lucien Cristofis had 19 to lead BHASVIC, with Richardson adding 17 and Scriven finishing with 9, whilst Dan Kingswell and Elliot Dadds joined James in double figures with 16 and 13 respectively for Itchen.
