James Watt College 120 – 38 Newcastle Eagles Academy

James Watt were coming off back to back losses so were always going to come out with intent to win, eventually doing just that as they beat Newcastle 120-38.

James Watt started the quarter with some suffocating defence to jump out to an 11-0 lead before Newcastle recorded their first points of the game. It was a unforgiving display from James  Watt as they were relentless in getting the ball back and scoring down the other end. The 1st quarter ended 35 -9, providing an ominous sign of things to come.

Nothing changed in the second quarter as James Watt continued with pressure defence and clinical fast break points. Newcastle found it slightly more difficult to score and the lead was getting bigger by the minute. The dominance provided a half time score of 56-14 to the hosts,

The trend of the first half continued through the second, although James Watt eased of off the defensive pressure slightly. JWC was still able to score on the other end however, limiting Newcastle to contested shots to provide an 88-25 3 quarter score.

The final quarter was again much of the same. James Watt was scoring in bunches while Newcastle found baskets hard to come by, with the final buzzer eventually bringing an end to a one sided contest.

Top scorers for James Watt were Ian Rodriguez on 22, Wakeem Richardson with 19 and Sam Cheshire and Kwaku Donkor both on 16

Newcastle were led by 12 points from Aironas Sukys, Tyrese Nfon had 10 and Emeka Okoli finished on 9.
