James Watt College vs Charnwood College

James Watt suffered a defeat at home to league leaders Charnwood College on Wednesday afternoon, with a final score of 96-71.

The first quarter was competitive with both teams playing good quality basketball. James Watt came out moving the ball and scoring well and surprised James Watt with some consistent play which saw the first period end 25-20 to James Watt. The second quarter was slightly different as James Watt committed some turnovers which Charnwood capitalised on in swift fashion. Charnwood attacked on the fast breaks taking advantage of James Watt’s poor transition defense. Baskets were a little harder to come by for James Watt in this quarter, leaving Charnwood out score James Watt 15-26 to finish the half 40- 46 to Charnwood College.

The third quarter was similar to the first. A rejuvenated James Watt matched Charnwood on scoring and adjusted their transition defense. Both teams spread the ball evenly with multiple players scoring during the quarter. The score was 58-66 going into the fourth. James Watt were still in the fight and gave their all. Charnwood never panicked and continued their steady scoring with N.Kitenge controlling the flow of the game. James Watt became made some desperate attempts at a comeback, but it wasn’t to be. Charnwood rounded the game off capitalising on quick shots and cruised to victory. 

James Watt were lead by recent Player of the Week, Wakeem Richardson who had 23 points on the day, whilst Charnwood were lead by. B.Sagn who had 20. 

James Watt will host Derby in their final game and Charnwood look ahead to play SGS next week.
