John Madejski Academy 83 v 61 City of London Academy

JMA came out on the winning side of a scrappy affair at home to CoLA, 83-61. James Jolly was JMA’s top scorer on the afternoon with 19 points.

A tight first quarter saw JMA lead by 2, 20-18 with Jacob Cirtautas chipping in a quick 8 points to nudge JMA in front.

JMA dominated the second quarter, taking control of the game by outscoring COLA 28-11 in the period. COLA struggled to create scoring opportunities, while JMA were finding easy ways to score.

The third quarter saw a response from COLA as they punished JMA’s turnovers, running in a couple of easy lay ups but for all their effort, they still found themselves down 18 going into the final quarter.

A scrappy fourth quarter saw JMA extend their lead and seal the game with 9 of their 10 players contributing to their 83 points.

Top scorers for JMA were James Jolly with 19 points, Asher Ndah had 18 while Jacob Cirtautas & Ross Stepney both chipped in with 12 points each. COLA’s top scorers were Damilare Adedeji with 16 points, Tyreese Garrod had 12 points and Kavell Hawes finished with 11 points.

JMA Head Coach Alan Keane noted after the game: “It was another solid performance from all 10 of our guys today. The positivity and effort from them today was infectious and bodes well for the tough season ahead.”

JMA travel to Oaklands next week while CoLA host Copleston.
