John Madejski Academy vs SEEVIC College

John Madejski Academy defeats SEEVIC 110-30.

John Madejski Academy made it back to back wins on Wednesday afternoon when they comfortably beat SEEVIC by 110 points to 30 in Reading behind James Jolly’s 25 point haul. JMA Head Coach Alan Keane was pleased to see his team perform well and gave credit to his second unit especially in the final quarter of the game:

“It was really good to see our second unit play extended minutes today and show what they can contribute whilst maintaining the principles and concepts that we drive every single day. A professional performance by our group against a new team in the EABL this year that are still building and progressing.”

JMA went into a quick lead early in the game and after 5 minutes were 13-4 to the good. A 7-0 run put the home team further ahead later in the quarter as they held a 20-8 advantage before a 10-2 run by SEEVIC reduced the arrears despite two late baskets by the hosts as the first period finished 26-16. The opening four minutes of the second quarter were relatively even but with the score at 29-19 JMA went on the offensive and a 19-2 run saw the home team take a 50-23 lead into the half time interval.

After the break it became one way traffic as JMA had their highest scoring quarter of the game pouring in 32 points whilst holding their opponents to just three, as the home team led 82-26 after the first 30 minutes of action. The final quarter followed suit as Coach Keane was able to give his starters a well deserved breather and James Jolly scored 13 of his 25 points, as JMA ran out winners against a plucky SEEVIC team with the final score 110-30.

Supporting James Jolly’s 25 was Captain David Obediah with 20 and point guard David Chive with 17 , as well as all of JMA’s players getting on the scoresheet. For the visitors, Zayaam Ali and Tendo Meseorisa had 6 apiece with Bradley Day scoring 5 for SEEVIC.

JMA will now finish the season with a three game road trip as they travel to Canterbury High School on Wednesday 27th February, before visits to City of London Academy and Itchen College the following week round off their regular season. SEEVIC have four games remaining and will host BHASVIC after half term on Wednesday 27th February.
