Manchester Magic Academy 55 v 64 James Watt College

The Manchester Magic played host to James Watt Academy on Wednesday afternoon. It would prove to be a tight affair throughout but James Watt would eventually take the contest 64-55 behind a game high 17 points from Ian Rodriguez.

It was the home side that started well with a number of steals and break away scores. James Watt would settle quickly though, getting countless extra offences through strong rebounding. The game would stay close up until half time where the Magic would go into the break with slender 2 point lead.

It wasn’t until the 4th quarter that the team from Birmingham raced to a 12 point lead, with the majority of their points coming from trips to the foul line. Manchester finally broke the slump late but it would make no difference to the final result as the damage was already done.

Coach Peter Paraskeva commented after the game: “At times we play some great basketball, but when need to improve our shot selection and ball movement down the stretch.”

Next week sees both teams have a rare week off in the busy schedule.
