Manchester Magic Academy 84-70 SGS College

Wednesday afternoon saw SGS make the trip up to Manchester to take on the Magic. The team from Manchester would take the contest 84-70, with Josh Grant leading the charge with a game high 21 points.

It would be the away side that settled into the game first behind 15 first half points from Finlay Woodward. The game remained close throughout much of the first but a few made threes just before the break, helped the Magic take a 10 point lead into halftime.

The Magic would extend the lead to as many as 17 in the second half and despite a noticeable¬†lift in their defensive intensity from SGS and bringing the game within 8 points late in the fourth, it wasn’t enough.

Coach Peter Paraskeva commented after the game: “Credit to SGS, every time I thought we would would extend the lead they would get a defensive stop or hit a big shot to keep them in the game.”

Next week sees SGS head home to take on James Watt Academy and the Magic are done for 2019, with no game until January when they travel to James Watt.
