Manchester Magic Academy 78 – 72 The Sheffield College

Wednesday afternoon saw Sheffield College make the trip over to Manchester to take on the Magic at the National Performance Centre. A fantastic showing from Sheffield’s Tom Morey, with a game high 29 points wouldn’t be quite enough to prevent the Magic taking the contest 78-72.

A evenly matched first half ended with the Magic up by only 6 points, 42-36. It was the visitors that made an early statement in the third going on a 12-2 run in the opening 5 minutes, propelling them into a 48-44 lead.

The Magic would finally settle and started to gain momentum through multiple stops on the defensive end. Good clock management a couple of important threes down the stretch from Manchester’s Noah Togo & Luke Gordos sealed the victory 78-72 for the Magic.

Coach Paraskeva commented after the game: “Glad our lads managed to grind out the win but our defensive effort needs to be there for forty minutes and not just in spells”.

Leading the scoring for the Magic were Luke Gordos 22 and Josh Grant with 17.

Sheffield’s top scorers were Tom Morey 29 and Reyad West with 26 points.

Next week sees the Magic at home again where they host Myerscough College and Sheffield get their home floor back where they host James Watt College which will prove to be another important fixture in the playoff race.
