Manchester Magic Academy vs Newcastle Eagles Academy

Wednesday afternoon saw the Newcastle Eagles Academy make the trip to Manchester to face the Manchester Magic Academy.

The home side raced off to a 14-2 run to start the game, which forced the Eagles into an early timeout. The Magic piled on the full court pressure, which Newcastle struggled to deal with, as the first period ended 30-9 to the home side.

The second quarter would see the visitors start to settle into the game offensively, with Theo Riley getting some easy points in the paint.  Newcastle’s Sauveur Kande would also have a strong first half, as he converted 7 of his team high 13 in the dying moments. Despite Kande’s efforts, the Magic would take a 48-27 lead into the break.

Moving into the second half, the Magic found themselves go from strength to strength behind some sharp shooting by Dan Gargan who shot his way to a game high 19 points personal. The game would eventually finish 110-63 to the Manchester Magic.

Magic coach Peter Paraskeva commented after the game: ‘Really happy with the way we moved the ball today and it shows the unselfish nature of our team with 7 players getting into double digits’.

The Magic were led by Dan Gargan with 19 points, Henry Lythe De Pee with 14 and Nathaniel Klutz with 13. Newcastle were led by Sauveur Kande with 13 points, Theo Riley with 11 and Tyrese Nfon with 10.
