SEEVIC College vs Itchen College

SEEVIC College are still searching for their first win of the season as Itchen took the spoils on Wednesday 10 October, winning 58-89.

SEEVIC started the game as the aggressors, forcing Itchen to take an early timeout. However, as the first quarter progressed the visitors began to edge back, but the hosts managed to hold their own as they finished the quarter leading by two, 20-18. Chris Janes had 10 points in the first period for the home side.

The home side gained confidence from the first quarter and carried that into their second period performance. However, a crazy last minute of basketball before the half saw SEEVIC slip to a 10 point deficit going into the break.

Itchen then ramped up the pressure by applying a full-court defence to start the second half and SEEVIC couldn’t regain their composure as the once tight game slipped to a 29 point lead for the visitors.

The Essex-based squad didn’t give up the fight as they to clawed back into the game, but there wasn’t enough time on the clock for a comeback as the contest finished 58-89.

SEEVIC were led by Zee Ali with 16 points, whilst Matt Hughes paced Itchen with 25 points.

“I was really pleased with how we started.” said SEEVIC Coach Ross Norfolk. “We came out with good energy and executed our actions. We now need to learn to focus and stay locked in for the full 40 mins to give us a chance to win games.”

SEEVIC are on the road next week as they visit the high-flying newcomers Alec Reed Aacademy, whilst Itchen host Canterbury.
