SEEVIC College vs John Madejski Academy

Wednesday afternoon saw SEEVIC College fall to an efficient John Madejski Academy performance, as the visiting Berkshire side took a 29-98 victory.

SEEVIC started slow, missing some open layups which then allowed JMA to play in transition and get some easy looks. JMA took an early 0-11 lead, but the hosts began to deal the defensive pressure and started to play better on the offensive end. Transition defence remained an issue, which meant the score at half-time saw JMA up 17-52.

SEEVIC began the second half well, and put some pressure of their own on JMA which flipped the script and got the home side playing well in transition to create easy breakaway layups.

JMA would call a timeout and come out firing, with SEEVIC unable to stop the second chance opportunities that the visitors were creating with aggressive offensive rebounding. With the travelling side playing comfortably ahead, they were able to take an even more demanding lead as the game progressed, eventually running out 29-98 victors.

Adrian Nosa Castillo went for a game-high 27 points to pace JMA on the day.

SEEVIC Coach Ross Norfolk said, “We need to continue to compete for the full 40 minutes and not just for spells during the game. We missed open layups which didn’t help with us build confidence in the game. We will continue to strive for consistency.”

In next week’s action, SEEVIC host Oaklands College in the AoC Sport Premier Cup, whilst JMA visit Barking Abbey School.
