SGS College 104 v 78 Newcastle Eagles Academy

SGS College picked up their first win of the season with a 104 – 78 home victory against Newcastle Eagles Academy.

The opening minutes saw both teams trade baskets before SGS built a small lead after a run of stops on the defensive end. Newcastle stayed in touching distance, helped by a timely Emeka Okoli three in the last minute and the deficit was only three points at the quarter.

SGS took control in the 2nd behind a 10-0 run in the middle of the quarter. SGS led 37 – 19 at the half and though Newcastle rallied an remained competitive, they were never able to reduce the lead to a manageable target.

Sauveur Kande led all scorers with 29 for Newcastle while for SGS, Marvin Dinnall had 18 with Louis Weaver contributing 16 points.
Thomas Browne, second year SGS guard said: “It was great to get the win, however we know we can perform even better and will keep working hard to prepare for the upcoming games.”

Next week SGS College travel to Derby Trailblazers Academy while Newcastle are next in action on 9 November when they host Manchester Magic Academy.
