SGS College vs Allerton High School

SGS concluded the 2016/17 EABL season with a narrow 53-60 home loss to Allerton High School at the SGS WISE campus on Wednesday afternoon.

The home side went to halftime with a 4 point lead fuelled by a strong defensive performance however Allerton responded with a strong 19 to 9 third quarter to lead by 6 going into the final 10 minutes of the season for both sides.

SGS were able to cut the gap to 1 point with 3 minutes remaining in the game, however, a 7-0 run by the visitors put the game away from Bristol’s reach.

“As a coaching staff we are very proud of our young men,” said SGS Head Coach Andreas Kapoulas.

“It has been a challenging season and our players have learned a lot about what it takes to compete and ultimately win at this level. Today we came up short, however, this is not the end of the journey.

“Most of our players are returning next season and we already underway with our off season plans to be fully ready for a great year of SGS basketball. As for the players who will be leaving us, such as our Captain Lewis Pettit who has been a real credit to our programme, this is only the start of their journey and we look forward to following their next steps.”

For SGS, AJ Edu finished with 15 points and Ebuka Ekwegh added 11 while Allerton were led by Jaka Pandza who was the top scorer with 16 points and Justin Missick who added 12.
