SGS College vs BMET James Watt College

BMET James Watt College took a 57-49 win on the road at SGS Bristol after the short trip down the M5 to the WISE Arena, Bristol.

Daniel Penkov led James Watt with 19, whilst George Iliev continued his strong start to the season with 12 points.

SGS Coach Chris Bourne saw a game of missed opportunities:

“If we had dealt with their physicality a little more effectively and found a few more ways to attack their zone defence we would have had a chance at the end of the game.”

For SGS, AJ Edu top-scored with 13 points, whilst Aiden Khan added 10 points.

The first quarter was tight throughout, with neither team managing to gain any rhythm. At the start of the second, James Watt went on a small run to create a lead and this was due mainly to the efforts of George Iliev.

After this run it went back and forth for the rest of the quarter with James Watt holding a 5-point advantage at half time.

In the third quarter, Penkov dominated for James Watt knocking down multiple tough shots and being aggressive on both ends of the floor. This 11-0 run at the end of the third and beginning of the fourth made it difficult for SGS to come back in a low scoring affair. They created turnovers late in the game which brought it to a single deficit, but James Watt were able to hold on.
