SGS College 68 v 83 Manchester Magic Academy

Manchester Magic Academy got their season off to a winning start with a 68–83 victory on the road to SGS.

The game was tight in the opening minutes with neither team able to gain a rhythm but an 11 – 2 run towards the end of the quarter put Manchester firmly in control.

SGS begin a strong comeback in the 2nd quarter fuelled by the scoring of Marvin Dinnall. The hosts managed to get the deficit down as low as five points as the quarter wore on, before reaching the half down by seven at 39-46.

Manchester took control again in the second half behind the scoring of Saul May who led Magic scorers with 15. Malacchi Boakye-Yiadom added 15 more in the win as the visitors pulled away down the stretch.

Second year SGS guard Marvin Dinnall said: “We showed we can compete at this level. We need to make sure we don’t drop our heads and work to become more consistent throughout.” Dinnall led all scorers with 27 points.

Next week SGS College travel to James Watt College while Manchester are in action at home to defending EABL champs Charnwood on 9 October.
