The Sheffield College 42 – 59 Manchester Magic Academy

Manchester Magic bounces back from a close defeat against Derby to beat Sheffield College on the road 59-42 in a low scoring encounter.

Both teams came out playing great team defence, holding each other to an 11-12 first quarter score line and finishing at the half with a 21-27 score in favour of Manchester.

After a strong defensive first half for Sheffield, the third quarter was dominated by Manchester who held Sheffield to only 6 points. Manchester used their tough defence to help them pull away to a 12 point lead going into the 4th. In a low scoring clash, that was always going to be difficult to overcome.

Sheffield tried to comeback but only managed to get it down to a 10 point game and had their poorest quarter defensively allowing 17 points whilst only putting up 11 points as a team in the 4th.

Magic were led by Josh Grant with 13 while Jason Ani and Luke Gordon’s chipped in with 9 and 8 points respectively. For Sheffield, Reyad West led with 10 whilst JJ Wright and Mahamud Ibrahim both had 8.

Sheffield look to bounce back and get a win against James Watt, away in Birmingham and Manchester face a tough game away at Myerscough where they will look to put an end to the Conference leaders’ 6 game win streak.
