The Sheffield College 88 – 74 SGS College

Sheffield College hosted SGS College and got their 3rd victory of the season, putting them equal with the Bristol side. A final score of 88-74 came after a 99-72 loss the previous time these team’s met.

In the 1st quarter the game was fairly evenly matched with both teams scoring and the game remained close with SGS ending the quarter up 15-21.

However, in the 2nd quarter, SGS began to pull away to a comfortable 18 point lead and had their lead all the way up to 22 points at one point.

Going into the second half down 18, Sheffield had the odds stacked up against them however, the hosts chipped away at the lead in the 3rd led by Tom Morey having himself a 10 point frame, helping Sheffield to win the quarter 26-19, bringing it back to an 11 point game.

It was in the 4th quarter where Sheffield really stepped up their energy on defence, holding SGS to only 9 in the quarter whilst outscoring their opponents 34-9.

This was largely thanks to Mahamud Ibrahim, a first year forward who dominated inside and led Sheffield with 29 points, 15 of them coming in the fourth.

With 3 minutes left SGS managed to get the score down to 75-71 but a dagger 3 from Tom Morey put the hosts up by 7 and SGS had no answer for Sheffield who went on a 13-3 run within those last 3 minutes to finish with the win.

For Sheffield, Mahamud Ibrahim led a balanced scoring effort with 29 whilst Tom Morey had 18, JJ Wright had 16 and Reyad West adding 13 points.

For SGS Marvin Dinall led with 17 points and Finlay Woodward Added 14 in the loss.
