EABL Player of the Week – 8 December 2021

It’s time for the final EABL Player of the Week for 2021 before the league hits the mid-season break, ready to re-emerge in 2022.

It’s a repeat performer this week, earning their second accolade of the season with another worthy effort. That man is Sheffield College’s Charles Okafor!

Going 11-17 from the floor, Okafor’s 29 points helped Sheffield beat Manchester 85-73.

The talented forward brought plenty more to the party though, including a pair of triples in his tally, 15 rebounds (including eight on offence), an assist, a block and three steals.

It was an incredible do-it-all performance from Sheffield’s big man, and his 37 efficiency afternoon was worthy of another POTW award.

Speaking about his performance, Okafor said: “I’m really happy to have been named Player of the Week again.  It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my teammates and coaches.

“As we head into the Christmas break we are all working hard to remain at the top of the EABL North.”

Head coach Brad Connor added: “I’m delighted that Charles has been awarded his second Player of the Week award.

“He put on a dominant display against Manchester, showing the improvements he’s made on his outside game. He brings intensity at both ends of the floor and is a big problem for opposition defenders to deal with.

“He’s working extremely hard in training and showing big improvements in his game each week.”
