EABL Player of the Week – 12 January 2022

It’s a new year, but the same EABL, as we once again continue highlighting an incredible weekly performance from across the league.

It’s a repeat performer this week, and someone who has been lighting up the Northern conference throughout 2021/22.

Helping his side move to 4-0 on the season, James Watt’s Josh Ijeh is once again the EABL Player of the Week.

The talented forward pushed his team to a 95-68 victory against Newcastle with numbers that couldn’t be ignored.

With 21 points on 7-17 shooting, Ijeh pulled down an impressive 19 rebounds to go with five steals, four blocks and a pair of assists.

His stand out two-way performance pushed the young star to a 39 efficiency rating, the highest in the league last week, and his adjusted efficiency rating (which factors in player performance as well as opponent’s record) was also a clear winner.

Speaking about his performance, Ijeh said: “It feels great to receive my third Player of the Week award but even better to have gotten the win.

“Again, it wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my coach and teammates and I’m glad my team could move up to 4-0 and we will all work hard to keep this up.”

Head coach Steven Hansell added: “Josh is playing at a high level this season. He continues to work hard everyday to improve his game.

“We have ambitions to play as long as possible as a team this year and Josh is leading us from the front.

“His energy and determination is reflected in his overall performance. Great job!”
