EABL Recap – 16/17 February

There were wins for Itchen College, John Madejski Academy, Newcastle Eagles Academy and Derby Trailblazers as just four games took place in a reduced half-term EABL schedule.

John Madejski Academy 64-50 City of London Academy

John Madejski kept themselves right in the mix for the No.1 seed in the Southern Conference with a relatively comfortable win over visiting CoLA.

Ashley Kitchen lead all scorers with 17 points while teammates Kivuvu Live (16) and Isaac Round (12) also hit double figures for the Reading side.

For CoLA, Di-Jani Parkinson (9) lead the scoring with Ben Csernak (8) and
Joshua Sosanya (7) backing him up.

Itchen College 111-51 Copleston High School

Zak Riabi (23 points) and La Casinillo (20) gave Itchen a bedrock to build a big win over visiting Copleston.

Rory Urquhart-Hawkins (14) was also in double figures to continue what has been a positive season for the South Coasters.

For Copleston, it was another struggle but Joe Pulic (14) and Lewis French (11) kept up the fight.

Newcastle Eagles Academy 85-76 Manchester Magic Academy

In the North, Newcastle came out on top in the battle of the two teams at the foot of the standings – and gained some revenge for their loss to Magic the previous week.

Jakey Weech’s 22 points, plus 19 from Joe Sheeran and 14 from Josh Osarenkhoe helped the home side to the win.

Zak Moore had a game-high 25 for Magic, while last week’s Player of the Week Martins Adonry chipped in with 13 and Shaq Furlonge had 11.

Derby College Trailblazers 85-69 James Watt College

Derby made home advantage pay in their rearranged mid-table clash with James Watt College.

Mandre Costa’s 26 was the game’s highest total, while Armandas Ilijinas had 20 and Simeon Perry 16.

Jonathan Ntumba hit 17 in JWC’s losing effort with Josh Ijeh scoring 12 and
Patrick Adeseji 11.
