EABL Player of the Week – 23 February 2022

As we head into the penultimate week of the EABL season, there have been some stunning performances with team’s playoff hopes on the line.

This week’s winner put on a top tier performance in a game with big playoff implications, helping Oaklands to a valuable 67-61 win over rivals Barking Abbey.

No stranger to this award in 2021/22, Oaklands’ Kane Daley once again pulled out all the stops to help his side get over the line.

With 23 points that included a couple of triples, Daley narrowly missed out on the double-double as he closed with nine boards.

Still, he added four steals and a block to his afternoon’s work and his 22 efficiency rating was a league-high for the week.

After winning the award, Daley said: “We worked very hard during the week knowing we were going into a winnable game, we were disappointed that we couldn’t win last time we played Barking.

“Personally it was good to be able to perform in a way that helped my team win. My teammates are working their hardest and we are finding ways to overcome challenges in each game.

“Playoff mindset had started already and we look forward to a successful post season run.”

Coach Lee Ryan added: “It’s fantastic for Kane and the Oaklands’ program that his performances continue to be recognised.

“It was a big game on Wednesday and Kane is a big game player. He has set a new standard for what it means to be an athlete at Oaklands; he is committed to our development principals but he is also a winner and is leading the way in that regard!”
