EABL recap – 15/16 February

Charnwood suffered a blow to their EABL Northern Conference title ambitions as most teams took a half-term break.

The champions featured in both the games on a light league schedule, playing back to back games on Wednesday and Thursday to ease their fixture backlog.

They beat SGS but then lost to Manchester Magic to remain in second place behind leaders Myerscough. They do have a game in hand though going into the closing stages.

Lane Campbell led Charnwood to victory and within three points of Northern leaders Myerscough with a game-high 27 points in their first game of the week.

Edward Oniya (19) and Dan Hadley (18) were significant contributors too as Cameron Watson’s 23 points, 18 from Louie Tucker and 16 apiece from Callum Smart and Jayden Edward were the pick of SGS’s efforts.

Magic came out on top of a close battle as Charnwood missed out on a win that would have put them level at the top with Myerscough with a game in hand.

Joe Buchanan (20) and Matthew Goodwin (19) combined for 39 points and Ben Brown chipped in 15 for Manchester.

Lamarana Diallo had 15 for the Riders and Campbell was again in double figures with 12.
